Nokia launches custom mobile app

Nokia’s Brand License HMD Global has released Nokia’s Custom camera app today on Google play store simply named as Camera. This may not be unusual for manufacturers to upload their own custom app to the Play Store. The sole purpose of this unbundling from the smartphone firmware is that the company can fix any issues via OTA update. This helps the manufacturer not to rely only on Firmware update.

But sadly this app supports only Nokia smartphones right now. Smartphones which support Nokia camera app are Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6.According to a report, the current version of the app is v6.0080.07.

Camera

The interface of the camera is similar to the custom camera app present in Lumia Series, however, a major complaint is the lack of a manual mode as well as a panorama mode, present on other stock camera applications.

The custom camera app includes some special features like Compass, Compass tag, Altitude, Altitude tag, Spirit level, and Grid. These tools can be toggled on and off.

Like other custom camera apps, this doesn’t give you options like editing or applying effects on the photos. The first window contains options like Rear mode, Selfie Mode, Timer, Flash, and HDR.

Apart from that HMD Global had a partnership deal with Optical Giant Zeiss last month. That will see the Zeiss brand come back to Nokia smartphones offering superior quality photos on Nokia Smartphones. This will give more optical stabilization to Nokia smartphones
